What we know as salsa actually means “sauce” in Spanish and there are many variations, salsa roja, salsa verde for example, but this is properly known as Salsa Mexicana and is the simplest to make as no cooking is involved and it can be knocked up in minutes.
I love making Salsa Mexicana in the summer when grilling and of course to accompany the guacamole and nachos!
Serves 6 – 8
- 500g tomatoes, chopped
- 1 medium red onion, chopped finely
- 2 jalepeno chillies, chopped
- squeeze of lime juice
- A good handful of chopped fresh coriander
- Salt to taste
You get a pretty serving bowl and chuck all the ingredients in! It’s a bit like Arthur Mallards flower arranging!
